About Teton Telecom
Founded in 2018 in Athens, Georgia, Teton Telecom was built on a simple premise: telecom operators deserve advisory partners who truly understand their business — because we've been there ourselves.
Our Story
Teton Telecom was founded by Mark Metcalf after more than 15 years of hands-on experience in telecom finance, operations, and M&A. Having served as CFO, led acquisition integrations, and built fiber networks from the ground up, Mark recognized a gap in the advisory market.
Too many consultants offer theoretical advice without real operator experience. Too many investment bankers treat telecom like any other industry. And too many growing operators are left to figure things out on their own — often learning expensive lessons along the way.
Teton Telecom exists to change that. We provide the kind of strategic support that Mark wished he had earlier in his career: experienced guidance from someone who has sat in the operator's seat, managed the same challenges, and understands what it takes to build a successful telecom company.
Based in Athens, Georgia, we work with rural and regional operators, ISP founders, private equity investors, and municipal broadband initiatives across the country. Our focus is always the same: helping our clients move faster, smarter, and with greater confidence.
Meet Mark Metcalf
Mark Metcalf is a seasoned telecommunications executive with over 20 years of experience spanning finance, M&A, and network deployment. Before founding Teton Telecom in 2018, Mark held leadership roles including CFO of World Fiber Technologies, Director of K-12 Network Acquisition & Integration at Uniti Fiber, and Managing Partner at Atlantic Fiber Networks.
His career began in commercial banking at Jackson State Bank (now Wells Fargo), where he developed the financial acumen that underpins his approach to telecom transactions. This banking foundation, combined with years of operator-side experience, gives Mark a unique perspective on capital structure, deal mechanics, and financial strategy.
At Uniti Fiber, one of the nation's largest fiber infrastructure companies, Mark was responsible for acquiring and integrating K-12 network assets — managing complex transactions that required coordination across multiple stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and operational teams. This experience provided firsthand insight into what makes telecom M&A successful.
Mark currently serves as Managing Partner at Coastal Communications and has previously worked as Operating Partner at Connectivity Fund, focusing on deploying capital to underserved broadband markets through Opportunity Zone investments. His work at Connectivity Fund reinforced his understanding of how capital providers evaluate telecom opportunities and what operators can do to position themselves for investment.
Beyond his professional work, Mark is committed to his community. He holds a degree from the University of Georgia and serves on the board of The Sage School, a private school for children with dyslexia. He previously served on the boards of the Foodbank of Northeast Georgia and Georgia Communications Cooperative.
Mark lives in Athens, Georgia with his family. When he's not working with telecom operators, you'll likely find him on the golf course or cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs.
